Wednesday and Thursday

Hey everybody,

Hope you are all doing well! The last couple of days have been great! Going to the volunteer sites has been getting easier and easier every time. I love seeing the children every morning, but they can be a handful. You don't even know how many times I have had to say "mat maro" (means don't hit) to the kids today. But everything becomes all fine and dandy once they get playtime. They love to sit on our laps and one little girl gave me a henna tattoo with one of the coloring markers! One of my girls, her name is Krishma, and she is an absolute joy to have in class. She and her sister, Kumkum, are so bright and so eager to learn. Some of the kids I see just amaze me with their perceptiveness and their ability to retain information. It's incredible.

Yesterday after volunteering, we went to the National Indian Museum. It was so awesome. They have one of the largest archaeological collections in the entire world. Stone carvings and tools dating back to 2000 B.C. Absolutely incredible. There are pieces of ancient pillars and chunks of city walls from some of the first civilizations in India. Unbelievable. We had the amazing opportunity to have the man who actually started the museum to guide us. I swear he knew about every single artifact and the entire story behind it. It was so fascinating. Today we got a personal meeting with a former professor of international relations and comparative politics at one of India's universities. He gave us a lecture on India's social and political history. That was very interesting.

Overall a great couple of days. Our days are so jam packed that I find myself exhausted at night. Those kids wear me out. But luckily tomorrow is Friday and then we will have the weekend off. This weekend me and some of the other volunteers are going to Agra to see the Taj Mahal. It will be nice to see another part of India especially something as iconic as the Taj. I will be sure to post more pictures soon, especially of the kids at the school and of my weekend excursions. Can't wait! Miss you all at home and will post back soon! Namaste!
