Wow, what a day. Absolutely incredible. We did so much today! After breakfast, we took another tour of the Hauz Khas market, which is about a two minute walk from our flat. The market has everything from food, tuk tuks, vendors, ATMs, pharmacys, salons, and even a store that sells crocs. Haha. After the market tour, we had a tour of New Delhi. It was one of the most amazing things I have ever done! We went to the Lotus Temple. Absolutely stunning. Obviously it is shaped like one giant lotus flower and tons of people go there to pray or just witness its beautiful architecture. We got to the gates of the temple and automatically people started to stare. We stand out like a bunch a weeds in a field of flowers. There were tons of people there and women wearing the most beautiful saris I have ever seen. While we were walking to the temple people continued to stare, some took pictures of us, others asked to take pictures with us which was something I have never ever experienced before. It was definitely strange to be the one everyone notices. Once we got to the temple, we had to take our shoes off and be completely silent once we were inside. And pictures were not allowed inside. It was still very surreal to see this structure in person. Completely different from seeing it over google images or in a tour guide book. After the Lotus Temple, we went to Hamayun's Tomb........ SO GORGEOUS!!!!! I really can't describe it any other way. The detail in the walls and carvings and brick work was unbelievable. The view from the top was stunning. Overlooking a lot of Delhi and the lush green trees and gardens below. Stunning. Once again we caught the attention of many people, more than the tomb did. It was funny because a guy came up to me and asked me to take a picture, and I had thought he meant he wanted me to take a picture of him and his friends, but in actuality he was asking to take a picture with us. And before I knew it, they started walking over to where I was and started to say "cheese". Haha that was very strange. After the tomb, we drove to the India gate. A very popular tourist attraction. It is a lot like the Arc De Triomphe in Paris, but it has "India" inscribed at the top. After the gate, we went to the Prime Minister's house. That man should be on MTV Cribs, no joke! He had elephant shaped bushes, monkeys walking around his lawn, and a ginormous palace. Very surreal. This was the last stop on our tour and we went back to the office flat for lunch. Oh that reminds me, the food here is crazy delicious. Every meal is freshly prepared by the staff here and every time it is unbelievably good. Mom, Dad, if you are reading this, we are having Indian food about once a week when I get back. After lunch we decided to go walk around the local park and market place. It was an awesome afternoon and an overall incredible second day here in New Delhi. I am in love with India, with their people, and most importantly their food. Haha I am having the best time here and I wish you all well back home! Miss you guys and sending lots of love. Dhanayavad and Namaste!
