Monday.

Today went really great. I drank tons and tons of water and felt so much better. The kids at the school today were absolutely crazy. I swear they are not satisfied unless it is total chaos haha. After lunch we did some awesome tours of different religious temples. The first one we went to was a Muslim mosque called Jama Masjid located in Old Delhi. That was insanely cool. We had to wear traditional Indian clothing and cover our heads with a scarf. This is the largest mosque in India and it was HUGE. It was interesting to see all the Muslims coming to worship and showing their devotion. After the mosque, we went to Lakshmi Narayan Temple (a Hindu Temple). Hinduism is one of the most confusing religions I have ever come across, let alone, tried to understand. One of the staff members who came along with us who is Hindu tried to explain each one of the gods and their story and what they represent. It was cool to listen to all the different stories, but one thing I never knew was the significance of the swastika symbol in both Hinduism and Buddhism. There were swastikas covering the Hindu temple and I was so confused. I thought the swastika was just the symbol of the Nazi Party, and it was, but I learned that Hitler took it from Hinduism. It symbolizes the idea of well being and good fortune. Its suppose to resemble a wheel to show the idea of cycles and renewable spirits. Very interesting. After the Hindu temple, we went to a Sikh Temple. It was so beautiful with gold peaks on top of an all white building. Each one of the individual places we visited were so different in their own way, but one thing they did have all in common, was how devoted people were to their religious duties. This is something I will never forget.
